Julie Gardner is best known for her work as Head of Drama, BBC Wales. Originally from Neath, Wales, Julie teamed up with Russell T Davies and Jane, to spearhead the revival of the BAFTA-wining series Doctor Who (BBC. Julie also brought an unparalleled string of hit dramas to the BBC, including Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Being Human, The Girl in the Café, Stuart: A Life Backwards, Dad, Mistresses and Casanova. On leaving BBC Wales, Julie moved to Los Angeles to head up the scripted division of BBC Worldwide Productions. In this role, Julie has been an Executive Producer on a range of US-based titles, including Torchwood: Miracle Day (Starz), Us & Them (Fox), Da Vinci’s Demons (Starz/Fox), Getting On (HBO) and Intruders (BBC America/BBC Two). Julie is an honorary fellow of the Royal Welsh College of Drama and Music and the University of West Glamorgan. She is the recipient of the Sian Phillips Award by BAFTA Cymru for her work in network and international television. In 2014, she was awarded an MBE for her contribution to the growth of the television industry in Wales.
